Alex and Sam Wallace

Alex Wallace is a Paediatrician at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton New Zealand, and Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics with the University of Auckland.  Since completing her PhD in 2013, Alex has divided her time between her clinical, teaching, and research roles.

Alex's main research interests are in the grass-roots Paediatric problems of bronchiolitis and preschool asthma.  She is currently chief investigator of a large multi-centre randomised controlled trial investigating outcomes for children with moderate to severe exacerbations of preschool asthma treated with 1- versus 3-days of oral prednisolone.

Outside of work Alex has two teenaged kids and two cats, all of whom she loves in equal measure.  She enjoys spending time writing, gardening, playing bridge and going for jaunts on her cute little old wooden boat.

Samantha Wallace

Samantha Wallace is Year 11 high school student in Cambridge New Zealand.  She loves being creative and expressing herself in all sorts of ways. She’s happiest when she’s singing, performing, or speaking in front of a crowd, connecting with people through music and storytelling.

When she’s not on stage, Sam enjoys spending time in the kitchen trying out new recipes, heading out on the water for a relaxing day of boating, or curling up at home with her cats. She loves vintage fashion which inspires her interest in fashion design.

Sam is honoured to be invited to speak at DFTB and hopes the audience will find her presentation thought-provoking and inspiring.
