Marijke is working as a paediatric advanced clinical practitioner in the children and young people’s emergency department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the biggest trauma centres in the UK. She is course director and instructor on international courses including APLS, ALS, GIC and ETC. For the past 10 years she has been an active member of the Advanced Life Support working group and is an associate editor of the 7th edition APLS manual. She has recently been part of the development of the Children and Young People Acute Psychosocial Emergencies (CYP APEx) Course and is a member of the CYP APEx working group. She works closely with the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust and is actively involved in teaching CPR and use of AED in the community, with a focus on sports teams and coaches. She has two children who have suddenly turned into adults and regularly travels to the Netherlands to visit her family. She has ran 10 marathons in her life, including one ‘good for age’ and will continue running for as long as possible.
